Why should I give to Tonbridge Baptist Church?

Fulfilling the vision and work of TBC is dependent on the generosity and giving of our congregation. Sacrificial giving is a biblical principle and it is honouring to God, who is so generous to us, when we take time to consider and pray about how we give to his work at TBC.

Why should I make gifts under Gift Aid?

Making gifts under the Gift Aid Scheme is a tax efficient way to make your giving more effective and it will encourage you to plan your giving.

If you are a taxpayer and you have signed a Gift Aid Declaration, the Church can reclaim the tax that was deducted when you earned the money given. Each year TBC claims a substantial amount in tax.

How does the scheme work?

HMRC takes the first 20p of every pound you earn if you are a basic rate taxpayer. For every £1 you donate to TBC under Gift Aid HMRC are obliged to return that 20p to us. To enable us to make this claim from HMRC the following rules apply:

• You must have paid UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year within which you donation has been made
• You must complete a TBC Gift Aid Declaration
• Gifts must be identifiable as having come from you
• TBC must not reclaim more tax than you have paid

How do I start making gifts under Gift Aid?

• Download and complete the Gift Aid Form & return to the Director of Finance(this declaration can apply retrospectively for up to the previous 6 years, enabling us to claim any tax on identifiable gifts that you have made in that period)
• Make your gifts personally identifiable e.g. use a Standing Order via your bank paid direct to the church bank account. Standing order form is available to download below.
• The Director of Finance can make special envelopes available to you if you do not wish to use standing order
• Donations can be made by cheque
• If you wish to make a one-off cash gift please put the money in an envelope with your name on it
